Thomas Drexl
Physiotherapist and osteopath (DO diploma IAO)
“As an osteopath, I take great pleasure in supporting people through a holistic medical approach to restore their health.”
Thomas Drexl
Due to my many years of competitive mountain biking and my long-standing interest in medicine, I decided to train as a physiotherapist at the VPT in Stuttgart in 2003.
After successfully completing my training in 2005, I first worked at Reha Vita in Lörrach and from 2006 at the Hausbaden rehabilitation centre in Badenweiler. In 2007, I set up my own practice, Dynamik, in Freiburg. I ran this practice successfully and with great pleasure for my team and patients until 2016.
Functionality at the centre
While working with patients in physiotherapy, I became increasingly interested in the knowledge I still lacked about treating people holistically. I saw the complement in osteopathy, which focuses on the body's ability to function. I therefore decided to sell my physiotherapy practice in 2006 so that I could devote myself fully to the 5-year course in osteopathy at the IAO, based in Ghent, Belgium. After successfully passing the international jury examination in 2018, I worked as an osteopath in the Dynamik physiotherapy practice in Fribourg and also in the Dreipunkt practice in Oberried from 2019.
In 2020, I passed the examination to become a non-medical practitioner and in 2021 I wrote my scientific thesis to obtain the D.O. Diploma.
I was also looking for a holistic approach in the treatment of patients for the topic of my diploma thesis and therefore dealt with the question of how back pain occurs in connection with intestinal complaints and what influence osteopathy has on this.
In my work as an osteopath, I am particularly enthusiastic about how well the human body can regenerate itself with the help of self-healing powers, sometimes with a little external support.
I am delighted that I have been able to enrich Dr. Borgmann's team as an osteopath since February 2022. I particularly appreciate the exchange within the interdisciplinary team in order to develop personally and optimize the treatments for the patients.
